Cardiorespiratory fitness, metabolic response and physical exercise

This research topic focuses on studying the effects of different training regimes and warm-up protocols on cardiorespiratory and metabolic responses as well as performance parameters in active subjects, well traned and elite athletes and in patient with neurological (e.g. multiple sclerosis) and metabolic (e.g. Type 1 diabetes) diseases. Physiological assessment concerns the measurement of heart rate and oxygen uptake through the use of an ergospirometer (Sensomedics) while blood lactate concentration is considered as a measure of the metabolic response. Sports performance parameters are recorded during both outdoor and indoor exercise sessions with several tools including GPS, SmarTracks Diagnostics system and different types of ergometers

Study of the effects of different high-intensity interval training (HIIT) concepts on physiological, metabolic, performance parameters, and the quality of life in recreational runners, elite athletes and subjects with type 1 diabetes (TD1)
